A two-tatami-mat living space, built with jigs, that draws out improvisational behavior

ASIBA Creative Incubation Program 3rd
2025.04.01 -

Under the theme of “an experience of improvised living,” this project exhibits, as an installation, a two-tatami-mat living space built using jigs. Through July, the team stays in a vacant building, making work while updating the space day by day, then reconfigures and develops what they've produced — including the jigs themselves — into “bonus track.” Visitors can not only handle the jigs, but actually make things like chairs and tables. They can then enjoy staying in the space with what they've made — drinking coffee, reading a book. At Demo Day, through an experience where making and staying continue seamlessly into one another, the jigs prompt physical thinking and draw out improvisational behavior. The space receives these acts and gives rise to an open scene of living.
